Simple, realistic ways to support your body this summer — without expensive supplements, all-or-nothing thinking or giving up on movement ❤️
When the temperature rises, it can feel tempting to press pause on your health goals.
You might feel more tired. You may notice your sleep is disrupted. You could feel more bloated, more sluggish, sweat more than usual or simply lose motivation.
And if hormones are part of your story (although certainly not only hormones!) warmer weather can sometimes feel harder than it seems to for everyone else.
But here’s your reminder…
You do not have to stop moving because it’s hot.
You do not have to punish yourself with harder workouts ( especially when thinking about wearing your shorts or swimwear).
And you definitely do not need a cupboard full of supplements to feel healthy.
Summer is not about doing more. It’s about supporting your body differently.
Here are my favourite simple ways to stay healthy, hydrated and feel your best during warmer weather.
💧 1. Hydrate smarter — not just more
Most of us know we should drink water.
But hydration isn’t always simply about quantity.
When temperatures rise, we lose fluid through sweat and many people also notice they feel flatter, more tired or less energised.
Simple habits can help:
✔️ Start the day with water
✔️ Sip regularly rather than drinking huge amounts at once
✔️ Include water-rich foods (fruit, salads, yoghurt, cucumber, berries)
✔️ Don’t forget hydration after exercise too
One thing I personally enjoy is my simple homemade ELIXIR.
Mine includes:🍋 Lemon🧂 Himalayan salt🍎 Apple cider vinegar💧 Water
No expensive sachets.No unnecessary extras.
I enjoy it because it feels refreshing and helps me prioritise hydration.
Potential benefits people often report include:
• encouraging regular fluid intake
• providing small amounts of naturally occurring trace minerals
• supporting digestion for some individuals
• helping create healthy morning habits
• feeling more refreshing than plain water
(As always — it won’t suit everyone. If acidic drinks irritate your stomach, reflux or teeth, adapt accordingly.)
Want my exact ELIXIR recipe and measurements? Send me a message and I’ll happily share it.
🌅 2. Change the time — not the habit
One of the biggest mistakes people make in summer?
Stopping altogether.
Instead of:❌ “I’ll start again when it cools down…”
Try:✅ Earlier morning walks
✅ Evening movement
✅ Shorter sessions
✅ More recovery
Movement doesn’t have to leave you exhausted to be beneficial.
Some of the healthiest things you can do are often the simplest.
Walking.
Pilates.
Strength training.
Stretching.
Fresh air.
Small amounts done consistently will always beat waiting for the perfect conditions.
🏋️♀️ 3. Adapt your training — don’t abandon it
Your body is already working harder in hotter weather.
That means your training might need to look different.
That isn’t failure.That’s smart.
Try:
✔️ Lowering intensity
✔️ Taking longer rests
✔️ Choosing shade where possible
✔️ Wearing lighter layers
✔️ Shortening workouts if needed
✔️ Focusing on mobility, strength and consistency
In my own classes, we always adapt.
Village hall sessions stay surprisingly cool.
Our WALKFit Silent Disco sessions benefit from sea air, movement and regular opportunities to hydrate.
Online classes are brilliant too because you can train in your own environment with fans, open doors and complete flexibility.
Your movement should support you — not drain you.
🩷 4. Hormones and heat (and why you’re not imagining it)
Many women tell me they feel:
• hotter than everyone else
• more tired
• more puffy or bloated
• less motivated
• interrupted sleep
• energy crashes
You are not alone.
Hormonal changes can influence temperature regulation and how we feel day to day.
But equally — stress, hydration, poor sleep and simply being busy can affect all of us.
Before assuming you need another supplement…
Ask yourself:
✨ Have I eaten enough today?
✨ Have I had protein?
✨ Have I hydrated?
✨ Have I moved?
✨ Have I rested?
Often the foundations matter more than we think.
🌊 5. Fresh air might be exactly what you need
There is something incredibly regulating about getting outside.
Sea breeze Morning sunlight .Gentle movement .Fresh air.
Not every workout has to happen inside four walls.
Even 10–20 minutes can:
☀️ support energy
☀️ lift mood
☀️ encourage movement
☀️ create routine
☀️ help you reconnect with yourself
Final thoughts ❤️
Please don’t disappear for the summer.
Your body still deserves movement.
Your mind still deserves care.
Your health goals still matter.
But perhaps summer is your reminder to become softer with yourself.
Healthy doesn’t have to mean extreme.
And feeling good doesn’t need to come from expensive supplements or all-or-nothing thinking.
Sometimes it starts with water, fresh air, movement and showing up for yourself exactly where you are.
