You Don’t Need More Motivation — You Just Need a Place to Begin......

Why September could be the perfect time to come back to yourself, move your body, lift your mood and start feeling good again.

September has always felt a little bit like a second New Year to me.

The holidays are coming to an end, routines begin to return and there’s that subtle feeling of a fresh start in the air.

But perhaps you’re not bounding into September feeling motivated and ready to take on the world.

Perhaps you’re tired.

Stressed.

Your sleep hasn’t been great. Your energy has disappeared. Your usual exercise routine has slipped. Maybe your body feels different lately and the things that used to work for you don’t seem to work quite the same anymore.

Or perhaps you keep thinking:

“I really need to start doing something for myself again.”

If that sounds familiar, you are absolutely not the only one.

Why is motivation sometimes so hard?

One of the biggest misconceptions around health and fitness is that motivated people somehow wake up every morning desperate to exercise.

We don’t!

Motivation comes and goes for all of us.

And for women, particularly as we move through our 40s, 50s and beyond, there can be an awful lot competing for our physical and emotional energy.

Work. Family. Caring responsibilities. Hormonal changes. Poor sleep. Stress. Busy schedules. A changing body. A never-ending mental load.

Sometimes even deciding what to do feels exhausting.

So if you've fallen out of the habit of exercising, I don't want you to think you need to suddenly find enormous reserves of willpower.

You don't.

You just need somewhere to begin.

What if you started with ONE minute?

Yes. One minute.

Not an hour.

Not even 30 minutes.

One minute devoted entirely to YOU.

Move your body. Do a few squats. Stretch. Put on a favourite song and dance around the kitchen. Step outside and walk. Do a little core work.

Because one minute can become two.

Two can become five.

And most importantly, you've kept a promise to yourself.

This is one of the reasons I love my BodyBlitz Daily Challenge. It removes that huge mental hurdle of “I haven't got time to exercise today.”

You don't need lots of time.

You need a starting point.

Those tiny daily actions might not look dramatic, but repeated consistently they begin to build something incredibly valuable: the habit of making yourself matter too.

Movement isn't just about changing how your body looks

We need to talk about this more.

Exercise can absolutely help us become stronger, fitter and healthier, particularly during midlife when maintaining muscle, strength, mobility and bone health becomes increasingly important.

But there's another reason I want women to move.

Because of how it makes us FEEL.

Think about that moment after you've exercised.

Your head feels clearer.

Your mood has lifted.

You've achieved something.

Perhaps you've laughed.

Perhaps you've spent 45 minutes thinking about absolutely nothing except the music, the movement and what your body is doing.

Maybe you've connected with other women and realised you weren't the only person who nearly talked herself out of coming!

That feeling matters.

Fitness doesn't have to be punishment.

Movement can be your release.

Your reset.

Your breathing space.

Your time.

“But Emma, I just don't have the energy…”

Then I don't want you to wait until you magically have loads of it.

Start where you are.

If you're exhausted, don't decide you need to smash out an intense hour-long workout.

Try ten minutes.

If ten feels too much, try five.

If five feels too much today, do your one-minute challenge.

If getting out of the house feels like exactly what you need, come and join us for a class.

And if leaving the house feels like one hurdle too many, exercise with me online from home.

There is no single ‘right’ way to get fit.

The right option is the one that works for your life right now.

September: come back to yourself

Rather than making September about losing a certain number of pounds, dropping a dress size or punishing yourself for what you did over the summer, I'd love you to try something different.

Ask yourself:

How do I want to FEEL?

Stronger?

More energetic?

Less stressed?

More confident?

Happier?

More mobile?

More connected?

More like you again?

Now we have something worth working towards.

And you don't have to do it alone.

Wherever you are, there's a way to join me

If you're local to me here in North Norfolk, you can come and experience the wonderful BodyBlitz community in person, with classes and experiences around Cromer, Mundesley and the surrounding North Norfolk area, as well as my special quarterly WALKFit™ Silent Disco Experiences in Norwich.

There's Pilates, strength and resistance work, WALKFit™ Silent Disco and plenty of opportunities to move, laugh and connect.

And WALKFit™ is perhaps one of my favourite examples of what I mean when I say fitness should make you feel good.

Fresh air. Music. Movement. Singing. Dancing. Smiling at strangers. Community.

For a little while, the stresses of the day disappear.

But you don't need to live anywhere near Norfolk to become part of BodyBlitz.

My online fitness classes and programmes mean women can exercise with me from wherever they are.

You might want the accountability of live online classes.

You might need the flexibility to exercise when it suits you.

Perhaps you want Pilates, strength and resistance training, short workouts or something you can fit around work and family life.

Or maybe right now, one minute a day genuinely feels like enough.

That's okay too.

You don't have to get fit before you join us

Please read that again.

You don't have to be fitter.

You don't have to lose weight first.

You don't have to buy a new outfit.

You don't need to know what you're doing.

And you certainly don't need to wait until you feel motivated.

Come exactly as you are.

I've worked in the fitness industry for 37 years, and if there's one thing I know, it's that we ALL have times when motivation disappears.

I'm a fitness professional and it happens to me too.

The difference isn't being motivated every day.

It's learning how to keep coming back.

And sometimes that's much easier when somebody is there saying:

Come on. I've got you. Let's do this together.

Your September doesn't need a dramatic transformation

Forget the all-or-nothing approach.

This September, perhaps your goal could simply be:

Move a little more.Make some time for yourself.Build your strength.Find something you actually enjoy. And do more of what makes you feel GOOD.

One minute today.

A short workout tomorrow.

A Pilates class at the weekend.

A WALKFit™ Silent Disco where you laugh so much you almost forget you're exercising.

It all counts.

Because your health and wellbeing aren't another chore to squeeze onto your to-do list.

You deserve to be on that list.

So wherever you're reading this — whether you're here with me in North Norfolk, Norwich, Cromer or Mundesley, somewhere else in the UK or on the other side of the world — there is a place for you at BodyBlitz.

You don't need endless motivation.

You don't need endless time.

And you don't need endless energy.

You just need to begin.

Ready to feel good again?

Explore my BodyBlitz Fitness face-to-face and online classes, Pilates, WALKFit™ Silent Disco, strength training and Daily Challenge, and find the option that fits your life.

Start small. Start imperfectly.

Just start.

Because we all deserve to feel good.

Move Well. Feel Strong. Live Better.

Because feeling better doesn’t have to start with a huge transformation. Sometimes it starts with one minute, one walk, one class or one small decision to make yourself a priority.

It’s making exercise part of your daily or weekly routine. We can all think of things to do other than exercise, so if it becomes part of your routine like brushing your teeth, the benefits follow. So I have already booked my next Pilates lesson for Tuesday morning 👍
